Lot 1584:
Antique Single-Shot Exposed Hammer Long Gun
Sold for: $75
Description
A single-barrel, single-shot long gun of utilitarian style, featuring an exposed hammer and simple trigger guard. The design suggests an early breech-loading or percussion cap era firearm. The metal components, including the barrel and receiver, exhibit a heavy dark patina, surface rust, and pitting. Remnants of a brassy or gilded finish are visible beneath the corrosion on some areas of the receiver plates. The dark-stained wooden stock shows extensive wear, including numerous scratches, dents, and prominent cracking and material loss, particularly on the fore-end and buttstock. No distinct manufacturer’s marks or translatable text are clearly visible.
