Mondial Model 199 .22 Caliber Tear Gas Revolver with Box and Manual
Sold for: $40
Description
A Mondial Model 199 .22 caliber tear gas revolver, finished in black metal alloy with light brown textured grip panels. The revolver is marked “MONDIA,” “Mod. 199,” “Cal. 22,” “MADE IN ITALY,” and “BREVETTATA.” This 6-shot revolver is accompanied by its original blue cardboard box, which is labeled “6-SHOT TEAR GAS REVOLVER, BLUE.” Also included is an English instruction manual from “MOLGORA MODESTO” that covers models including “REVOLVER MOD. 999 – 99X – 199 – 1938.” The box features Italian text indicating compliance with law 18-2-1983 no: 46, suggesting a post-1983 manufacturing or compliance period. While specifically labeled as a tear gas revolver, items of this type are commonly identified in the market as starter or blank pistols, often associated with the broader Mondial 99X series.
Condition report:
The revolver exhibits visible wear, scratches, and finish loss, particularly on the cylinder and frame, consistent with moderate use. The original blue cardboard box is worn, creased, and shows signs of age and handling. The instruction manual is also handled and creased.
