Description
A Harrington & Richardson Topper M48 single-shot, break-action shotgun. The firearm features a blued steel barrel, a case-hardened receiver exhibiting visible patterning, and a varnished wooden stock and forearm. The left side of the receiver is marked “TOPPER M48,” “HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO. WORCESTER, MASS. MADE IN USA,” and the serial number “H 31506.” The top of the barrel near the receiver is marked “MADE IN USA 12 GA CHOKE.” The underside of the barrel bears the matching serial number “H 31506” and an additional number “L075889.” The buttpad is black rubber with a circular embossed logo depicting a hunter and dog, flanked by “K P,” and further marked “GUN PAD CO. CUY. FALLS, O. PAT. PENDING.”
Condition report:
The firearm exhibits typical signs of age and use, including wear to the bluing on the barrel and the case hardening on the receiver. There are minor scratches present on the wooden stock and forearm. The black rubber buttpad shows some scuffs. The firearm appears to be largely intact.
