Gun Collectors Dream Auction #81 January 31st & Feb 1st
Lot 1144:
Sold for: $90
Description
This lot comprises a collection of seven distinct assemblies and components used for the manual reloading of metallic ammunition cartridges. The centerpiece is a red painted cast metal C-frame single-stage reloading press manufactured by LEE, featuring zinc-finished linkages and a black operating rod. The design is consistent with the Lee Challenger or Classic Cast series of presses. Also included is a green speckled cast metal RCBS powder measure assembly, featuring a clear green plastic hopper and an attached crank handle mechanism for dispensing powder charges. A separate, smaller powder measure assembly is present, featuring a black body and an orange translucent plastic hopper mounted on a black bracket. The lot also contains a partial Redding powder measure assembly, consisting of a green textured cast metal base marked REDDING-HUNTER, INC. CORTLAND, NEW YORK, accompanied by a separate brass-colored powder reservoir tube and a small black measuring component. Finally, the collection includes an RCBS Precisioneered Automatic Primer Feed kit, packaged in its original worn green and tan cardboard box. The box is checked for the Model 09589 COMBO LG & SM (Large and Small) configuration. These tools are suitable for the precise measurement and assembly of handloaded ammunition.
Condition report:
The overall condition is fair, reflecting heavy use and age. The original blued finish is heavily worn, exhibiting significant thinning, patina, and numerous scratches across the receiver and octagonal barrel surfaces. There are areas of surface oxidation present, particularly on the receiver flats. The wooden furniture shows heavy handling marks, dings, and wear consistent with field use. A visible crack is present in the buttstock, extending rearward from the receiver tang. The metal buttplate shows heavy surface rust and pitting. The action appears to function correctly upon manual cycling, but we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The bore condition is unknown. It is the buyer\'s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
