Gun Collectors Dream Auction #81 January 31st & Feb 1st
Lot 1210:
Sold for: $90
Description
This lot consists of one military-style metal ammo can and a bulk quantity of empty, spent brass rifle cartridge casings. The can is olive drab (OD green) steel and features stenciled yellow markings indicating its original contents were 200 CARTRIDGES 7.62 MM, NATO M82, CARTONS, M13, with the Lot number LC L 41 – 88 A111. The brass casings are of a bottleneck design, consistent with the 7.62mm NATO caliber specified on the container. The casings are empty brass rifle casings and have been cleaned or tumbled, resulting in a bright, polished finish. While the container specifies 7.62mm NATO, the lot is being sold as a collection of cleaned .223/5.56 empty brass casings and other similar rifle brass suitable for reloading or scrap, as suggested by user keywords. The quantity of brass is uncounted but substantial, filling the container. These items are inert components intended for reloading or scrap. No live ammunition is included.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces retain a thinning blued finish, exhibiting significant wear, scratching, and thinning throughout the barrel and receiver, consistent with regular field use. There are several areas of light surface oxidation and minor pitting visible, particularly near the proof marks and on the receiver flats. The jeweled bolt face shows some light discoloration and surface rust spotting. The bore appears bright but was not inspected with a borescope. The wood stock and forend show numerous cosmetic handling marks, scratches, and pressure dents in the glossy finish. The checkering remains visible but is worn smooth in high-contact areas. The action appears to function correctly, cycling the slide and engaging the hammer, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. It is the buyer\'s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
