Description

A collection of three vintage mechanical balance beam scales designed for precision powder measurement in reloading and gunsmithing applications. The lot includes two identical scales manufactured by REDDING, featuring heavy, dark brown textured cast metal bases, silver graduated beams, sliding weights, and removable aluminum weighing pans. The third item is a BONANZA scale, which utilizes a dark black textured base supporting a bright red main body structure. This Bonanza scale features a dual-beam system, including an upper black beam calibrated in Grains (GRNS) up to 300, and a lower black beam with a sliding mechanism marked 0 to 100, incorporating components associated with the LEE Safety Scale design, known for its magnetic dampening feature. These precision tools are essential for accurate powder charges.

Condition report:

The overall condition is fair to poor, showing heavy use consistent with a utility firearm. The metal surfaces retain very little original bluing, exhibiting extensive brown patina, surface oxidation, and scattered light pitting, particularly on the receiver and barrel exterior. The bore appears dark and may require aggressive cleaning. The stock and forend are constructed of varnished reddish-brown hardwood, showing numerous deep scratches, dings, and handling marks throughout. There is a visible crack or deep scratch in the forend wood. The black synthetic buttplate is worn and scuffed. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually. We have not test-fired this weapon. It is the buyer\'s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
