Gun Collectors Dream Auction #81 January 31st & Feb 1st
Lot 1588:
Sold for: $30
Description
A set of two ammunition reloading dies manufactured by LEE Precision, designed for use with .308 caliber cartridges. The set includes one longer sizing die and one shorter seating/decapping die, both marked with the manufacturer’s name (LEE) and appearing mechanically sound. The dies are housed in their proprietary translucent orange/red hinged plastic storage box. The lid of the box features the LEE logo embossed within a crosshair graphic. The caliber identification, “308,” is handwritten in black marker on the side of the lower portion of the box.
Condition report:
The overall physical condition is poor, showing significant neglect and heavy corrosion. The metallic finish, particularly on the barrel flats and around the breech area, exhibits extensive surface rust and deep pitting. This heavy pitting is concentrated around the percussion nipple seat and the base of the hammer. The percussion cap nipple itself is missing. The black synthetic stock is generally sound but shows scuffs, scratches, and minor discoloration consistent with heavy use and poor storage. The ram rod is missing. The hammer appears to cock and release correctly, but we have not function-tested this firearm with powder or projectile. The bore condition is unknown due to the lack of a ram rod for inspection. It is the buyer\'s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
