This lot consists of a collection of four vintage fixed and folding knives, including examples from prominent American and Japanese manufacturers. The collection includes a large fixed-blade combat or utility knife marked US CAMILLUS on the ricasso. This knife features a heavy black finish, a partial serrated spine section, a steel guard, and a stacked black leather grip, consistent with military issue specifications. It is accompanied by a heavily worn black leather sheath. Also included are two matching fixed-blade utility or butcher style knives, both stamped CASE XX. The first is marked 431-8, and the wooden handle is additionally stamped FORGE. The second is marked 433-8. Both Case knives feature light wood handles secured by brass pins and display dark, heavily patinaed blades showing distinct diagonal grinder marks, suggesting a focus on rugged utility. These knives are presented resting on sections of original tan paper wrapping. The final item is a folding lockback knife manufactured by KERSHAW OREGON USA by KAI JAPAN. This knife features a satin-finished clip-point blade, black molded grips with deep finger grooves, and polished brass bolsters. It is accompanied by a separate, plain brown leather snap-closure sheath. It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws regarding the purchase and possession of edged weapons.
Condition: The overall condition of the collection is used, showing significant wear consistent with age and field use. The US Camillus knife retains much of its black finish, though it is heavily worn, scratched, and exhibits surface oxidation and pitting, particularly near the tip and guard. The stacked leather grip is worn but intact. The associated black leather sheath is heavily scuffed and cracked. The two Case XX utility knives show heavy patina and darkening on the blades; the diagonal grinder marks are prominent. The wooden handles are dry and show minor dings. The Kershaw folding knife has a satin finish that shows surface scratches from use; the brass bolsters are tarnished and show green verdigris in recesses. The black molded grips are in good condition. The lockback mechanism appears to function correctly, but we have not function-tested this knife for safety or reliability. The accompanying brown leather sheath for the Kershaw is worn but serviceable.
