Lot 424:
A Lot of 40 Vintage Winchester .458 Winchester Magnum 510 Grain Soft Point Ammunition
Sold for: $160
Description
This lot consists of 40 rounds of vintage Winchester center-fire rifle ammunition in two original boxes. The caliber is identified as .458 Winchester Magnum, loaded with 510 Grain Soft Point (S.P.) projectiles, suitable for large game hunting. The lot includes one yellow/red Winchester Super-Speed box (W4581) and one grey/red Winchester Super X box (X4581). The cartridges bear the headstamp W-W SUPER 458 WIN MAG. The ammunition is presented in two 20-round inner cardboard trays.
Condition: The original cardboard packaging is in poor, worn condition, showing heavy staining, edge wear, peeling, and handwritten marks on the Super-Speed box. The cartridges themselves exhibit significant tarnish and discoloration consistent with age. The brass cases show heavy patina, particularly on two cartridges which were loose across the trays. The projectiles are copper-jacketed soft points. We have not function-tested this ammunition, and it is sold as a collector’s item only. It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
