Description
A single lot consisting of one (1) fixed-blade fighting knife and its accompanying leather sheath, consistent with the British World War II (WWII) Fairbairn-Sykes (F-S) Commando Knife pattern, likely a Third Pattern variant due to the ribbed leather washer grip construction. The knife features a double-edged stiletto blade with a diamond cross-section, retaining remnants of a blackened military finish. The hilt is fitted with a straight, black metal crossguard and a conical black metal pommel. The grip is constructed of tightly wrapped, grooved, reddish-brown leather washers. Faint, unreadable circular milled markings are present near the hilt on the blade ricasso. The accompanying brown leather sheath features a wide belt loop/retention flap and is reinforced at the tip with a polished metal chape secured by rivets. A sticker bearing the number 13058 is visible on the main body of the sheath.Blade Length: Approximately 7 inchesOverall Length: Approximately 11.5 inches
Condition: The knife is in heavily used, fair condition consistent with field use. The blackened finish on the blade shows significant abrasion, thinning, and loss, exposing the bare metal beneath. The steel crossguard exhibits heavy surface rust and oxidation. The leather washer grip shows drying, cracking, and wear to the ribs, but remains structurally sound. The leather sheath is dry, stiff, and cracked in several areas, particularly along the fold lines and edges. The metal chape is polished and shows minor scratching. The retention strap is present but stiff.
