Gun Collectors Dream Auction #81 January 31st & Feb 1st
Lot 490:
Sold for: $45
Description
This lot comprises a pair of used military surplus metal ammunition cans, commonly utilized for the storage and transport of small arms cartridges. The cans are constructed of olive drab painted steel, featuring hinged lids, tension clamps, and carrying handles. The can on the right bears clear yellow stenciling indicating its original contents packaging: 200 CARTRIDGES, 7.62 MM, M80, CARTONS, M13. It also displays the lot number FC-06H100-044. The can on the left is unmarked save for a small white inventory label marked 5698. Both cans are partially filled with hundreds of loose, spent brass casings suitable for reloading or scrap. The contents primarily consist of 7.62mm rifle caliber casings, but the lot also includes empty brass casings consistent with .380 ACP, as specified by the consignor. A total of 12 additional loose spent brass casings are included outside the cans.
Condition: The metal ammo cans are in used military surplus condition, exhibiting significant external wear, including paint chipping, scratches, and minor surface rust consistent with field use and long-term storage. The lids appear to seal, and the carrying handles are intact. The brass casings are all spent (inert) and empty, suitable only for reloading components or scrap metal. Casings show typical signs of firing, including primer strikes and some light tarnishing or discoloration. We have not function-tested the cans for watertight integrity. It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
