Lot 501:
Sold for: $800
Description
A single Winchester Model 70 XTR bolt-action sporting rifle chambered in the powerful .264 Winchester Magnum caliber. The rifle features a blued finish and is mounted in a classic gloss-finished wooden stock featuring a Monte Carlo comb and factory checkering on the forend and pistol grip. The rifle is equipped with a ramped hooded front sight and a rear sight base, but is currently configured for optics. Mounted atop the receiver via steel bases and rings is a Redfield 3X-9X variable power scope with a standard crosshair reticle. An Allen brand padded nylon sling is attached via swivels. Markings visible on the barrel include WINCHESTER MODEL 70 XTR – .264 WIN. MAGNUM MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL. The receiver is marked with the serial number G1376088. The bolt face is of the standard push-feed design characteristic of the Model 70 XTR rifles of this era.
Condition report:
The metal components retain approximately 70-75% of the original blued finish, exhibiting moderate to heavy thinning, particularly along the edges of the receiver and muzzle, and numerous cosmetic scratches and handling marks across the barrel surface. The bolt body shows bright wear consistent with use. The wooden stock shows significant surface scratching, dings, and finish loss, particularly on the buttstock and around the action inletting, consistent with heavy field use. The factory rubber recoil pad is present and intact. The bore appears bright with strong rifling, though it has not been professionally inspected. The action appears to function correctly when cycled by hand, and the safety engages. The mounted Redfield scope glass appears clear with a functional reticle, but the exterior tube shows wear and scratching. We have not function-tested this firearm for safety or accuracy. It is the buyer\'s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
