Description

A classic American long-recoil semi-automatic shotgun identified as the Remington Model 11, based on the John Browning design. This specific example features serial number 88287, visible on the bottom of the receiver. The action is a long-recoil semi-automatic mechanism. The barrel is fitted with a period accessory, a Poly Choke adjustable choke and compensator device, consistent with a modified 28″ barrel configuration. Visible manufacturer and patent markings on the barrel include: REMINGTON ARMS-UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO., REMINGTON WORKS ILION, N.Y. U.S.A. BROWNING’S PATENTS OCT. 9, 1900, DEC. 17, 1901, SEPT. 30, 1902, JUNE 16, 1903. The receiver side is marked Remington TRADE MARK and the trigger plate is marked REMINGTON UMC TRADE MARK. A proof mark (RP in an oval) is visible near the receiver/barrel junction. The adjustable choke device is marked POLY CHOKE CO. HARTFORD and shows settings including FULL and MOD. V. The shotgun is chambered for 12 Gauge shells.

Condition report:

The receiver finish is heavily worn, exhibiting a gray patina consistent with being largely \"in-the-white\" or having lost nearly all original bluing, showing handling marks and scuffs. The barrel retains a dark, mottled finish with significant bluing loss and scattered areas of surface oxidation. The Poly Choke device is in good mechanical condition with clear markings. The bore appears generally bright but has not been inspected professionally. The buttstock and rounded forearm are constructed of reddish-brown wood with a glossy varnish, showing superficial scratches, minor dings, and finish wear typical of a used sporting arm. The buttstock is fitted with a modern rubber Remington branded butt plate. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, but we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. It is the buyer\'s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
