Description

A collection of vintage Lyman Ideal bullet casting equipment, comprising two pairs of single-cavity mold handles and two original cardboard boxes for mold blocks. One set of mold blocks is displayed and identified as Lyman Ideal mold number 311413 S, designed to cast a pointed, groove bullet typically used for .30 caliber rifles. The mold blocks are further marked 311 and 332 on the opposing face, indicating approximate bullet diameter and weight or design variation. The boxes are marked Lyman IDEAL ONE SET BULLET MOULD BLOCKS, USE WITH SINGLE CAVITY (SMALL) HANDLE, manufactured by THE LYMAN GUN SIGHT CORP. MIDDLEFIELD, CONN. MADE IN U.S.A. The second set of mold blocks remains sealed or unconfirmed inside the second box. The handles feature forged steel or iron jaws and stained hardwood grips secured by brass ferrules. This lot is essential for the serious vintage reloading enthusiast.
Condition: Overall Very Good vintage condition, consistent with use. The steel components of the handles show patina, light surface oxidation, and casting residue, particularly on the jaws. The hardwood grips are solid with minor handling marks and a pleasing aged finish. The displayed mold blocks (311413 S) show significant casting residue and internal oxidation but appear structurally sound and usable. The two original cardboard boxes are present but show heavy wear, tearing, creasing, and discoloration consistent with age and storage. It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
