Gun Collectors Dream Auction #81 January 31st & Feb 1st
Lot 95:
Sold for: $60
Description
An original empty presentation case manufactured by or for Colt, intended to house a Colt Frontier Scout Single Action Army revolver, specifically the Nevada Centennial Commemorative edition (1864-1964), typically chambered in .22 LR. The case is constructed of wood with a pale gray/blue stain finish. The exterior lid features faint artistic line engravings, possibly depicting a topographical map or landscape, consistent with commemorative themes. The lower right corner of the exterior lid is embossed with the circular Colt logo. The case is secured by brass-toned hinges and latches. The interior lid is lined with white satin, featuring the blue printed Colt rampant horse logo at the center. The base is fitted with voluminous, rumpled blue velvet lining, molded to accept a single revolver. No firearm, accessories, or ammunition are included with this lot.
Condition: The wooden exterior displays significant surface wear, scratches, and staining, particularly visible near the center and bottom edge, suggesting heavy use or poor storage. The pale gray/blue finish is worn and faded. The artistic line engravings on the lid are faint but discernible. The brass-toned hardware (hinges and latches) shows tarnish and minor surface corrosion. The interior satin lining is generally clean but exhibits minor wrinkles and creasing. The blue velvet lining in the base is heavily rumpled and compressed, showing wear patterns where a firearm once rested. The case opens and closes securely. We have not function-tested this firearm. It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
