A vintage Remington Model 512-P “The Sportmaster” bolt-action rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle cartridges, utilizing a tubular magazine located beneath the barrel. This rifle features blued steel construction and a classic hardwood stock. The receiver and barrel are clearly marked with manufacturer information: “Remington ARMS CO. INC. ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. – PATENTS PENDING.” The model designation “THE SPORTMASTER REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. MODEL 512-P” is visible on the barrel. The rifle is equipped with a fixed front blade sight and, notably, the factory-installed adjustable rear aperture (peep) sight, indicated by the ‘P’ suffix in the model number. The receiver is marked “Remington REG. U.S. PAT. OFF.” The rifle retains its original black checkered buttplate, also marked Remington. This model was produced by Remington for a relatively short period, dating its manufacture to approximately 1936 through 1940.
