Lot 1175:
Sold for: $190
Description
A collection of five sets of Lyman Ideal Bullet Mould Blocks manufactured by THE LYMAN GUN SIGHT CORP. of MIDDLEFIELD, CONN., U.S.A. These specialized reloading tools are constructed of dark metal, likely cast iron or steel, and are designed for casting lead projectiles. Each set of blocks is housed in its original orange and brown cardboard packaging, marked “ONE SET BULLET MOULD BLOCKS.” Three of the boxes specify that the blocks are intended for “USE WITH SINGLE CAVITY (SMALL) HANDLE” (handle not included). Visible identifiers stamped or handwritten on the boxes include the mold numbers 280468 S, 257312, and 459 / 24. One opened box flap reveals specific handwritten caliber and weight information: “45 AUTO Rim” and “185 grain.” These blocks represent various calibers and bullet profiles used by handloaders during the mid-20th century.
