Lot 1217:
Michael W. Smith Handcrafted Wooden Box Turkey Calls, Pair, circa Late 20th Century
Sold for: $100
Description
This lot consists of a pair of two (2) custom-made box turkey calls handcrafted by Michael W. Smith. These traditional hunting instruments are constructed from solid hardwoods, specifically selected for acoustic resonance. One call is fashioned from a light, uniform-grained wood, while the other utilizes a more decorative, figured timber featuring natural inclusions and dark mineral streaks. Both pieces utilize a classic box-and-paddle design, where the lid pivots on a single brass screw to strike the thin side walls of the sound box. Each call is prominently marked on the lid with a circular brand containing a turkey track logo and the text “Handcrafted By Michael W. Smith.” These items represent the intersection of functional sporting equipment and folk art craftsmanship. No measurements are available as no scale was provided in the source images.
