Description

Stevens Savage Arms Corporation Model 87T semi-automatic rimfire rifle manufactured in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, U.S.A. This rifle is chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, or .22 Long Rifle ammunition, noting the semi-automatic function is restricted to .22 Long Rifle cartridges only. The rifle features blued metal components and is fitted with a distinctive dark brown, glossy synthetic stock exhibiting a highly marbled or swirling pattern, characteristic of early polymer or Tenite stocks used by Savage/Stevens during the mid-century period. The rifle utilizes a full-length tube magazine system located beneath the barrel. Sighting is achieved via an adjustable rear sight and a fixed front post sight. The receiver is stamped with numerous patent numbers, including 2094577, 2224758, 2223093, RE 22585, and 2271676, which help date the design lineage. A potential serial or batch number, G 4840, is visible on the receiver ring. The buttstock terminates in a ribbed black polymer buttplate.
