Redding-Hunter Inc. Model #1 Powder and Bullet Scales (Pair) in Original Boxes, Mid-Century Reloading
Sold for: $40
Description
A unique pair of vintage Redding Powder and Bullet Scales, Model #1, manufactured by Redding-Hunter Inc. of Cortland, New York. These scales represent early precision equipment crucial for handloading ammunition, appealing both to active reloaders and collectors of vintage shooting accessories. The lot consists of two distinct variations of the foundational Model #1 scale, both housed in their original factory packaging. The first scale features a textured, cast metal base finished in green, paired with a black metal balance beam marked for capacity up to 350 grains. The second scale features a dark brown or black cast metal base and a silver metal balance beam marked up to 300 grains. Both scales utilize small, hanging aluminum pans for holding powder or bullets during measurement. The original boxes confirm the manufacturer and model number, with the box for the brown scale explicitly noting “U. S. A.” provenance. These variations offer insight into the production history of Redding’s early reloading tools.
