Description
A classic Winchester Model 68 bolt-action single-shot rifle manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. in New Haven, Connecticut. This rifle is chambered for the versatile .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle rimfire cartridges. The rifle features a full-length blued steel barrel and action paired with a smooth wooden stock. The barrel is clearly marked “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. — MODEL 68-.22 SHORT – WINCHESTER RIFLE” and “NEW HAVEN, CONN. LONG AND LONG RIFLE – TRADE MARK.” A key feature is the adjustable receiver-mounted peep sight, marked with the patent number U.S.A. PAT. 2014735, which corresponds to the rifle’s production period between 1934 and 1946. The bolt handle is polished metal, providing a contrast to the blued components. The rifle is fitted with its original black checkered buttplate bearing the circular Winchester Repeating Arms Co. logo. The Model 68 was a popular entry-level sporting and training rifle of the era. Note: Due to the nature of this item, all applicable federal, state, and local firearms laws and regulations apply to the transfer and ownership of this rifle. No measurements are available.
