Gun Collectors Dream Auction #82 February 21st & 22nd
Lot 1572:
Sold for: $160
Description
An antique double-barreled percussion long arm, likely a sporting or fowling shotgun, dating to the mid-19th century. The firearm features a traditional side-by-side barrel configuration and is operated by two external percussion hammers striking corresponding nipples at the breech. The stock is constructed of dark-finished wood, complemented by iron or steel furniture, including a metal butt plate secured by two screws. A metallic ramrod, terminating in a flared cup, is fitted beneath the barrels. The action type is percussion lock. Due to heavy surface corrosion, all manufacturer markings, model numbers, and patent dates on the side plates and receiver are obscured and illegible. This piece is offered primarily as a historical artifact or for its component parts. Barrel length is confirmed at 36 inches.
