Description

A classic reproduction of the iconic Hawken plains rifle, manufactured in Spain and imported by Connecticut Valley Arms, Inc. CVA. This is a percussion-lock muzzleloader chambered in .50 caliber. The rifle features a heavy, octagonal steel barrel finished in deep blueing. The barrel is clearly marked on the upper flat: Connecticut Valley Arms, Inc. Spain HAWKEN and Black Powder Only .50 Cal. The rifle is constructed with a polished hardwood stock, featuring a cheek rest and traditional brass furniture. Brass components include the crescent-shaped buttplate, the double ramrod pipes, the trigger guard, and a decorative crescent-shaped patch box cover inlaid into the buttstock. The rifle utilizes double set triggers for enhanced accuracy. Sighting is achieved via a fixed front sight and an adjustable buckhorn-style rear sight affixed to the barrel. The steel lockplate and hammer show a mottled, aged patina, contrasting with the bright blue of the barrel. A wooden ramrod with brass fittings is present beneath the barrel. The visible serial or date indicator near the breech is 85 393600, suggesting a manufacturing date of 1985.
