A vintage Remington Arms Company Model 33 single-shot bolt-action rimfire rifle manufactured in Ilion, New York. The Model 33 was introduced in 1932 as an economical youth and training rifle. The rifle features a full-length wooden stock and a long barrel. The barrel is clearly marked with the manufacturer’s information: REMINGTON ARMS CO., INC., ILION, N.Y., MADE IN U.S.A., followed by PATENTS PENDING and MODEL 33. The caliber compatibility is marked as .22 SHORT LONG OR LONG RIFLE. Additional markings include Remington REG U.S. PAT. OFF. The rifle utilizes a simple, exposed bolt mechanism. The metal buttplate is secured by two screws and retains a partial, later-applied inventory sticker marked “G 222328,” “ALLIED VAN LINES,” “221,” and an inverted patent number, PAT. NO. 3,489,433, indicating possible provenance or movement history. This rifle is a classic example of pre-war American sporting arms design.
