Description
A classic Winchester Model 12 slide-action shotgun chambered for 12 Gauge, 2 3/4 inch shells. The shotgun features blued steel construction throughout the receiver and barrel, complemented by highly figured, glossy wood furniture on both the stock and the forend, suggesting a higher grade or custom finish. The barrel length is 28 inches. Engraved markings on the barrel include “WINCHESTER – MODEL 12 – 12 GA – 2 3/4 CHAM -” along with “TRADE MARK,” “WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL,” and “MADE IN U.S.A.” The barrel is fitted with a ventilated rib marked “SIMMONS GUN SPECIALISTS INC. KANSAS CITY, MO.,” indicating a desirable period modification or customization for improved sighting and heat dissipation. The buttplate is marked “WINCHESTER,” “TRADE MARK,” “MADE IN U.S.A.,” and includes the patent date “PAT. JUNE 6, 1922.” The serial number visible on the underside of the receiver/magazine tube assembly is 1429151, placing its manufacture approximately in the mid-1950s.
