Lot 1041:
Description
This Italian-manufactured percussion revolver is a replica of the Remington 1858 New Model Army, specifically configured as a target model. It features an 8-inch octagonal barrel chambered for .44 caliber black powder. The firearm is finished in a deep bluing on the barrel, frame, and six-shot cylinder, complemented by a brass trigger guard and a case-hardened hammer. The furniture consists of smooth two-piece wood grips. Aiming is facilitated by a ramped front sight and an adjustable rear target sight. Key markings include BLACK POWDER ONLY 44 CAL. on the left side of the barrel and F.LLI PIETTA – MADE IN ITALY on the right side. The right side of the frame and barrel exhibit Italian proof marks, including a PN under a star and a shield under a star, along with a BB date code in a square indicating 1992 production. The serial number 147390 is stamped on the butt of the grip frame alongside a diamond-shaped manufacturer’s mark. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in very good overall condition, retaining a high percentage of its original blued finish with only minor handling wear and a faint cylinder turn line. The case-hardening on the hammer remains vibrant. The brass trigger guard shows a light natural patina. The wood grips are well-preserved with a few minor handling dings. The action appears to function correctly with solid lockup, although we have not function-tested this firearm.
