Description
This is a W.R. Case and Sons commemorative folding pocket knife, model CCH1050 SS, produced in 1989 to mark the bicentennial of George Washington’s presidency. The knife features a single large clip-point stainless steel blade with a red-colored etching. The etching depicts George Washington on horseback within a circular frame, surrounded by banners reading George Washington First President Of and 200th Anniversary The United States. The tang stamp on the obverse side reads Case XX over SS over USA with a dot configuration indicating a 1989 manufacture date. The reverse tang is stamped CCH1050 over SS. The handle is constructed of natural cherry wood with brass pins and liners, featuring a gold-tone oval Case XX shield inlay and polished nickel silver bolsters. The item is accompanied by its original hardshell presentation case with a blue velvet-lined interior, a certificate of authenticity, and an informational insert regarding the cherry wood handles. The inner lid of the case features a gold-tone ribbon graphic and the word Anniversary.
Condition report:
The knife is in near-mint, unused condition. The blade retains its original factory edge and the red etching is crisp and complete. The cherry wood handles are free of cracks or chips. Minor handling marks are present on the nickel silver bolsters. The presentation case and documentation are well-preserved.
