Lot 112:
Sold for: $85
Description
This lot consists of three 16-ounce metal canisters of GOEX black rifle powder, providing 3 LBS Total of propellant. Each rectangular red-painted metal can is designated as Cartridge grade, specifically intended for use in black powder metallic cartridge rifles. The front labels feature the GOEX logo and identify the product as the authentic propellant, American-made since 1912. Key markings transcribed from the labels include GOEX Black Rifle Powder, the grade designation Cartridge, and the net weight of 16 oz. (454 g). The canisters display prominent safety warnings including DANGER! EXPLOSIVE! and EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE AND EXPLOSIVE! The reverse side of each container provides comprehensive handling, storage, and disposal instructions, specifying manufacture by GOEX, Inc., Explosives Division, Belin Plant, 1002 Springbrook Ave., Moosic, Pennsylvania, 18507, U.S.A. Each canister is topped with a black metal screw-on cap. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The canisters are in fair to poor overall condition. All three metal containers exhibit varying degrees of surface oxidation and pitting, which is most prevalent along the top and bottom rims. The canister positioned on the far right shows significant corrosion and heavy rust across the right side of the front label and the lower right corner. The red painted finish on all cans shows scuffing, scratches, and shelf wear consistent with age and storage. The black metal screw caps are present and functional, though they show minor surface oxidation. The propellant is assumed to be live; however, we have not tested the chemical stability or ignition quality of the powder.
