Description
This F.lli Pietta reproduction of a Remington Model 1858 New Model Army target revolver is a single action percussion firearm chambered in .44 caliber. The revolver features an 8-inch octagonal barrel with a blued finish that is consistent across the frame and cylinder. The hammer displays a vibrant case-hardened finish, and the trigger guard is made of polished brass. The furniture consists of two-piece smooth wood grips. It is equipped with target-style adjustable rear sights and a ramped front sight. Key markings include the left side of the barrel stamped BLACK POWDER ONLY 44 CAL. and the right side marked F.LLI PIETTA – MADE IN ITALY. The frame bears Italian proof marks including a PN under a star and a BB date code in a square box. The butt of the grip frame is stamped with the serial number 146638 and a diamond-shaped maker logo containing FAP. An additional number 0495 is stamped on the underside of the barrel. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The overall condition is good, showing light handling marks and a visible turn line on the cylinder. The blued finish is largely intact across the major components. The case-hardened finish on the hammer remains vibrant. The polished brass trigger guard shows minor surface wear and light patina. The two-piece smooth wood grips show minor handling wear and several small scratches, with more pronounced chipping and indentations along the bottom edges. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
