Gun Collectors Dream Auction #83 May 2nd & 3rd TWO DAYS - NO RESERVES - 1200 LOTS!
Lot 1312:
Description
This lot comprises four individual metal cans of GOEX Black Rifle Powder, providing 4 lbs total of propellant. Each container is marked with a net weight of 16 oz (454 g). Three of the cans are 80th Anniversary commemorative editions featuring a banner with the dates 1912-1992, while the fourth can is a standard production version labeled American-Made Since 1912. Key markings include the GOEX Black Rifle Powder logo and handwritten notations on the upper portion of each can identifying the contents as FFg grade powder. The two central anniversary cans also bear the handwritten initials EG in black marker. The metal containers feature a red finish with black and white graphics and extensive safety warnings including Danger Explosive. Three cans are equipped with black plastic screw caps, while the fourth utilizes a silver-colored metal screw cap. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The metal containers show signs of age and handling consistent with long-term storage. The red finish exhibits surface scratches, minor scuffing, and some areas of light oxidation, particularly along the top and bottom seams. The screw caps appear intact and functional. While the cans are closed, the presence of handwritten markings suggests they may have been handled or sorted by a previous owner; the internal condition and exact volume of the powder have not been verified.
