Description

This lot consists of three metal canisters of GOEX brand FFg grade black rifle powder, providing 3lbs total of propellant. Each canister has a net weight of 16 oz. (454 g.). Two of the canisters feature commemorative labels for the 80th Anniversary with the dates 1912 and 1992, marked as manufactured by GOEX, Inc. at the Belin Plant in Moosic, Pennsylvania. The third canister features a standard label stating American-Made Since 1912 and was manufactured at the Minden, Louisiana plant. All three cans are finished in red with black and white printed graphics and lettering, including prominent Danger! Explosive! warnings and detailed handling and storage instructions on the reverse. The center canister has a small, yellowed paper adhesive label applied to the front with the handwritten characters L W in blue ink. Key markings include the GOEX Black Rifle Powder logo, the FFg grade designation, and the net weight of 16 oz. (454 g.). The reverse of the Moosic cans states Manufactured By GOEX, Inc. – Explosives Division, Belin Plant, while the Minden can specifies Manufactured By GOEX, Inc. (LAAP). Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.

Condition report:

The canisters are in good overall condition with minor shelf wear consistent with age. The red painted finish shows light scratches and small areas of paint loss. There is visible surface oxidation on the metal caps and the top and bottom rims of all three tins. The paper labels are intact, though the center canister features a non-factory adhesive label with handwritten ink. The canisters appear to be sealed and contain their original contents.
