Description
This lot consists of 5 vintage automatic fly fishing reels primarily of aluminum and metal construction. The group includes two South Bend Bait Company Oren-O-Matic Balanced Reels, Model No. 1125 and Model No. 1126, both featuring the South Bend Quality Tackle oval logo and marked Made in U.S.A. Also present is a HICo-MATIC reel manufactured by the Horrocks-Ibbotson Co. of Utica, N.Y., bearing a diamond H-I logo and marked Made in U.S.A. A fourth reel is a Sportfisher 55 model with a red circular label. The fifth reel is an automatic fly reel in a silver-toned metal finish with no visible maker marks. These reels represent mid-century angling technology, utilizing spring-wound mechanisms for line retrieval.
Condition report:
The items exhibit varying degrees of wear consistent with age and field use, including surface scratches, scuffs, and oxidation. The South Bend No. 1126 reel shows more significant surface debris and heavier corrosion. Mechanical functionality is untested.
