Description
This lot consists of a pair of metal canisters containing Hercules Red Dot smokeless shotgun powder, a double-base propellant designed for shotshell reloading applications. The cylindrical metal containers feature the distinctive red, white, and blue label design with the Hercules profile logo. Based on physical inspection, the lot contains a total of 1 Lb 10 Oz Of Powder. Primary markings on the front of the labels include HERCULES in white capital letters above RED DOT SMOKELESS SHOTGUN POWDER and the statement NET WEIGHT 1 lb (454 g). The reverse side identifies the manufacturer as Hercules Incorporated, Wilmington, DE 19894, and displays the revision code HER. 21077 REV. 4-90. The ingredient list specifies Nitrocellulose, Nitroglycerin, Ethyl centralite, Rosin, and Polyester, accompanied by CAS numbers and the UPC 0830710001. Both canisters retain their original red plastic pull-tab closures on the top lids.
Condition report:
The canisters are in fair to good condition, showing expected signs of age and shelf wear. Surface rust and oxidation are present on the exposed metal of the top and bottom rims. The labels exhibit minor scuffing, light staining, and edge wear but remain largely legible. The plastic pull-tabs are intact. Given the total weight of 1 lb 10 oz, the canisters are partially filled. The powder has not been tested for chemical stability or performance.
