Gun Collectors Dream Auction #83 May 2nd & 3rd TWO DAYS - NO RESERVES - 1200 LOTS!
Lot 1444:
Description
This collection consists of five distinct pieces of ammunition reloading equipment and related accessories. The primary components include a large lever-action reloading press featuring an orange painted finish and a wooden handle knob, and a matching orange-based powder measure. Based on visual evidence and market consensus, the powder measure is identified as a Lyman Ideal No. 55, characterized by its tall silver-colored cylindrical reservoir and adjustable metering assembly. The lot further contains a green-finished C-frame reloading press and a beige-colored specialized tool, likely a case trimmer or measure, equipped with a hand crank and threaded vertical post. A separate rusted metal handle bar with a green ribbed grip is also present; this handle appears to be detached from the green press. Verbatim markings on the green handle include HERTER’S INC. WASECA, MINN. which attributes the component to Herter’s Inc. of Minnesota. No other serial numbers or manufacturer marks are legible on the other items. These items are intended for ammunition handloading and are sold as a group for parts or restoration.
Condition report:
The physical condition of the lot ranges from fair to poor. The orange-finished press and the Lyman powder measure exhibit finish wear, heavy dust, and scattered surface oxidation. The green C-frame press shows advanced corrosion with heavy rust pitting across the frame and moving parts. The beige-colored tool displays finish loss and rust on the threaded post and crank.
