Description
This lot features a pair of vintage metal canisters for Winchester-Western 760 Ball Powder smokeless propellant, specifically designed for center fire rifle loads. Each individual canister is marked as one pound, representing 2 Lbs Total for the lot. The canisters are constructed with metal bodies, conical tops, and screw-on caps. Verbatim markings on the legible canister include Winchester-Western with the red WW logo, Ball Powder, Smokeless Propellant, For Center Fire Rifle Loads, and a large 760 in a red field. The word Pound is visible in the upper right corner. The second canister appears to be an identical 760 propellant container, though the label is partially obscured. Condition report:
The canisters show significant signs of age, including heavy oxidation and rust on the screw-on caps, conical shoulders, and bottom rims. The paper label on the left canister is approximately 50 percent missing, with the remaining portions showing significant scuffing. The right canister label is largely intact but displays staining, minor paper loss, and general shelf wear. The metal surfaces exhibit some pitting and discoloration.
