Description
This lot consists of four vintage metal tins of DuPont IMR 4895 smokeless powder, a propellant commonly utilized for rifle cartridge reloading. Each 1 lb. lithographed tin features a pink, white, and red color scheme and is fitted with a red-painted metal screw-top lid. The face of each can is prominently marked with the DuPont oval logo, IMR 4895, SMOKELESS POWDER, and NET WT. 16 OZ. (1 LB.). The reverse side includes detailed safety warnings and identifies the product as MANUFACTURED IN CANADA FOR E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO (INC.) WILMINGTON, DELAWARE 19898, U.S.A. Based on physical inspection, the collection contains a total of 1 Lb 9 oz Of Powder. One container retains a legacy adhesive price tag from ACE marked $13.38.
Condition report:
The metal containers show signs of shelf wear and age, including surface oxidation on the exposed metal rims, bases, and lids. The lithographed labels exhibit minor scuffing, light staining, and localized paint loss, though the text remains legible. The cans are generally free of major structural damage or deep denting. While the powder is present, the chemical stability and ballistic performance of vintage propellants are not tested or guaranteed.
