Lot 216:
C. Sharps Model 2 Single Action Pepperbox Pistol .30 Rimfire Antique
Sold for: $325
Description
This C. Sharps Model 2 pepperbox pistol is chambered for .30 caliber rimfire and features a stationary four-barrel cluster design. The firearm is constructed with a nickel-plated brass frame and a steel barrel assembly. Key markings include the manufacturer designation C. SHARPS in an arc over the date 1859 stamped on the left side of the frame. The full serial number 15500 is explicitly transcribed from the butt of the grip frame. The pistol is equipped with a single-action hammer featuring a rotating firing pin and is fitted with dark brown checkered grips. A small dark metal component, which appears to be the barrel latch or an internal mechanism part, is currently detached from the frame and included with the lot. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The firearm is in fair condition. The nickel-plated finish on the brass frame shows significant wear and flaking, with approximately 40 percent remaining and the underlying brass exposed on the grip straps and underside. The steel barrels exhibit a heavily faded finish with widespread surface oxidation and areas of light to moderate pitting. The bores are uncleaned and show signs of oxidation. The checkered grips show moderate wear to the diamond pattern but remain free of major cracks. The action has not been function-tested, and the firearm is sold with at least one detached internal or latch component.
