Lot 249:
Sold for: $850
Description
This Winchester Model 1894 lever-action rifle is chambered in .30 W.C.F. and is configured with a full-length octagonal barrel. The firearm features a receiver, lever, and crescent-shaped metal buttplate that have aged to a silvered patina with visible surface oxidation and minor pitting. The furniture consists of a two-piece dark wood stock and forend, which exhibit an older, non-original heavy glossy finish over numerous handling marks, scratches, and dings. The forend is fitted with a nose cap featuring a high-gloss black finish. Sighting is provided by a rear adjustable buckhorn sight and a front blade sight. Key markings include the upper tang stamped WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK- / -MADE IN U.S.A.- and the barrel marked .30 W.C.F. alongside a WP proof mark. The serial number 1105390 is clearly struck on the underside of the frame. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel retains a thinning dark blued finish with wear concentrated along the octagonal edges. The receiver and lever have a heavily worn, silvered appearance with scattered oxidation and minor pitting. The wood stock and forend show significant wear and have been refinished with a high-gloss coating. The bore was not inspected. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
