Lot 319:
A Pair of Norma 200 Smokeless Powder Tins with 2 Lbs of Powder
Sold for: $50
Description
This lot consists of a pair of vintage metal smokeless powder tins manufactured by Norma, containing 2 Lbs of Powder. Each container features a lithographed red, black, and white finish characteristic of the manufacturer’s mid-century packaging. The front of each tin is prominently marked with the brand name norma in lowercase letters on a black band, followed by SMOKELESS POWDER in white. Central markings include safety warnings stating DANGER EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE and KEEP AWAY FROM HEAT OR OPEN FLAME, followed by the manufacturer information NORMA PROJEKTILFABRIK AMOTFORS – SWEDEN. A white rectangular label at the base of each tin identifies the contents as 200, with a printed net weight of 400 grams. The reverse of the tins displays a liability notice stating NOTICE Since we have no control of the handling or use of this powder after it leaves our factory, we assume no responsibility in this connection. Both tins retain their original screw-on metal caps.
Condition report:
The tins are in fair to good condition, exhibiting surface wear consistent with age and storage. The lithographed finish shows scattered scratches, minor paint loss, and oxidation, which is most prevalent on the metal screw caps and the top and bottom rims. The labels at the base are partially obscured by wear and staining. The metal bodies appear structurally sound with no major indentations.
