Description
This Iver Johnson Model X is a single-shot bolt-action rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges. Designed as a reliable utility rimfire, the rifle features a self-cocking safety mechanism and a manual cocking piece at the rear of the bolt. The firearm is equipped with a one-piece wood stock featuring a rounded forend and a curved pistol grip. The sighting system consists of a fixed front blade sight and an adjustable rear notch sight mounted to the barrel. Verbatim markings on the barrel include IVER JOHNSON SELF COCKING SAFETY RIFLE and IVER JOHNSON’S ARMS & CYCLE WORKS, FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A. 22 S. L. & L.R. The receiver bridge is clearly inscribed with MODEL X followed by PAT. 1,673,666 and PATD. CANADA 1931. No serial number is visible on the external surfaces of the firearm. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm for safety or live-fire performance. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The original blued finish has thinned extensively, transitioning into a mottled gray and brown patina across the barrel and receiver. There is visible surface oxidation and areas of light pitting, most notably on the barrel, bolt handle, and cocking piece. The one-piece wood stock is in fair condition, showing a significant amount of wear characterized by various scratches, dings, and surface compressions throughout. The bore was not inspected. The metal buttplate remains intact but shows finish loss and light surface oxidation.
