Lot 417:
Lefever Arms Co. G Grade Side-by-Side Shotgun 12 Gauge with 26 Inch Barrels Antique
Sold for: $600
Description
This Lefever Arms Co. G Grade side-by-side break-action shotgun is chambered in 12 gauge and features 26 inch barrels. The firearm is configured with double triggers and a tang-mounted slide safety. The barrels display a prominent Damascus twist pattern throughout their length, while the receiver and side plates exhibit a grey and brown patina with traces of original case-hardened color in recessed areas. The stock and forend are crafted from checkered walnut, showing a variety of dings, scratches, and finish wear consistent with historical use. A single bead front sight is mounted on the textured rib, and the buttplate is a dark composite material featuring a circular logo with the stylized, intertwined letters LAC. Key markings transcribed verbatim include LEFEVER ARMS CO. in block letters on the side plates and the serial number 37066 on the trigger guard tang, barrel flats, and the receiver water table. The water table is also stamped with a capital letter G, indicating the grade. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces show a well-aged patina with the Damascus pattern remaining clearly visible on the barrels. The receiver has transitioned to a mottled grey and brown appearance with minor surface wear and scattered light oxidation. The walnut furniture shows numerous small dings and scratches, and the checkering exhibits moderate wear but remains defined. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm for safety or mechanical precision. The bores were not inspected.
