Description
This single-action percussion revolver is a contemporary Italian-made reproduction of the Colt Model 1860 Army. It features an 8-inch round blued barrel and a rebated six-shot cylinder decorated with an engraved naval battle scene. The frame, hammer, and loading lever exhibit a case-hardened finish, while the grip frame consists of a brass trigger guard and front strap mated to a blued steel backstrap. The revolver is fitted with one-piece smooth wood grips and features a fixed front blade sight with a notched hammer rear sight. Key markings include BLACK POWDER ONLY 44 CAL. on the left side of the barrel and F.LLI PIETTA – MADE IN ITALY preceded by a diamond FAP logo on the right side. The cylinder is marked PATENT NO and Engraved by W. L. Ormsby New York. Italian proof marks, including a star over a crest, a star over PN, and a CN date code in a square, are visible on the right side of the frame and barrel lug. The serial number P121884 is stamped on the underside of the frame. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in good overall condition. The blued finish on the barrel and cylinder remains largely intact with minor handling wear and light thinning at the muzzle. The case-hardened surfaces retain vibrant colors with some very faint surface speckling. The brass components exhibit a light, natural tarnish. The wood grips are well-preserved with only minor handling marks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The action appears to function correctly with good timing and lockup, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
