Lot 81:
Sold for: $140
Description
This is a Geha Mauser shotgun conversion, a post-World War I civilian modification of a military Mauser bolt action rifle. Chambered for 12-gauge shells, this firearm features a long, tapered smoothbore barrel equipped with a simple bead front sight. The original military rear sight assembly has been removed. The receiver and barrel retain a thinned blued finish. The wood furniture is a modified military stock with a shortened and contoured forend, retaining the characteristic metal bolt disassembly disc in the buttstock. Key markings include the word Germany stamped on the left side of the receiver and Nitro preceded by a symbol that appears to be a crown over a character on the barrel. The bolt handle root is stamped with the serial number 6331. The buttstock shows faded circular cartouches on both sides and a visible wood patch on the left side near the wrist. A metal buttplate is secured with two screws and bears a small, indistinguishable single-character mark. This firearm is missing its original military rear sight and does not include a magazine. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The firearm is in fair condition. The blued finish shows significant thinning and general wear throughout, with areas of light surface oxidation and minor pitting, particularly along the barrel. The bore shows some darkening and signs of use consistent with the exterior wear. The bolt action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The wood stock shows numerous dings, scratches, and a visible repair patch near the wrist. The metal buttplate and bolt disassembly disc show surface oxidation.
