Description

This is a Savage Arms Company Model 1899 lever-action rifle chambered in .30-30 Winchester, a classic American sporting firearm known for its hammerless design and rotary magazine. The rifle features a round barrel with a front blade sight and is equipped with a tang-mounted adjustable aperture peep sight. A notable feature of this example is the saddle ring attached to the left side of the receiver, along with the characteristic brass rotary magazine indicator window. The furniture consists of a two-piece walnut stock with a straight grip and a crescent-shaped metal buttplate. Prominent markings on the top of the barrel include MANUFACTURED BY THE SAVAGE ARMS COMPANY UTICA, N.Y. U.S.A. followed by patent dates through October 3, 1899. The side of the barrel is stamped SAVAGE HI-PRESSURE STEEL over MODEL 1899, while the caliber 30-30 is visible on the top of the barrel near the receiver. The serial number 82766 is stamped on the underside of the frame ahead of the lever. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal surfaces exhibit a faded blued finish that has largely transitioned into a mottled gray and brown patina, with areas of surface oxidation and light pitting throughout the receiver and barrel. The bore has not been inspected. The action appears to function correctly, though the firearm has not been function-tested or live-fire tested. The walnut stock and forend show significant wear consistent with field use, featuring numerous scratches, dings, and a weathered finish, but remain structurally sound.
