Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1054:
Sold for: $25
Description
This lot consists of a group of 54 rounds of centerfire rifle ammunition primarily produced by Winchester and the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. The collection features brass-cased cartridges loaded with a variety of copper-jacketed projectiles, including both spitzer and hollow point designs. These rounds are intended for use in rifles chambered for .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm NATO. While similar in general profile and high-velocity application to .220 Swift ammunition, these rounds are specifically identified by their headstamp markings. Verbatim markings recorded from the casings include WIN 223 REM, WCC 07, LC 02, and LC 06, with the Lake City rounds bearing the NATO cross-in-circle symbol. The ammunition represents a mix of commercial production and military-contract lots with manufacturing dates spanning the early 2000s.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good overall condition, showing minor surface tarnishing and light handling wear consistent with storage in a loose container. The brass cases are free from significant corrosion, dents, or defects. The projectiles remain firmly seated in the case mouths. All rounds appear to be live and functional, as the primers are seated correctly and remain un-struck.
