Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1187:
Sold for: $80
Description
This lot consists of eight semi-automatic pistol magazines primarily designed for Smith & Wesson firearms and compatible platforms. The collection includes a variety of capacities and styles, notably a magazine for a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus featuring a textured polymer grip extension and another blued steel magazine marked 40 S&W and MADE IN ITALY with a high-visibility orange follower. A specialized Mec-Gar magazine is present with a base plate marked RESTRICTED LAW ENFORCEMENT / GOV’T USE AND/OR EXPORT ONLY 9-14-94 and MEC-GAR USA MERIDEN, CT. Another unit is stamped S&W 9mm and bears a piece of masking tape with the handwritten notation NOT For MOD. 59. Construction across the lot is predominantly blued steel with a mixture of polymer and metal floor plates, including one floor plate stamped with the number 1 in two locations. Several magazines feature numbered witness holes to indicate remaining ammunition capacity, with one specimen showing markings for 4 through 15 rounds. The magazines exhibit various states of wear consistent with use, including minor finish thinning and light surface oxidation on select steel components.
Condition report:
The magazines are in good to very good condition overall. The blued steel bodies show varying degrees of finish wear, with some exhibiting light scratches, thinning at the contact points, and minor surface oxidation. The polymer base plates and followers appear intact with no significant cracking or damage, though they show typical handling marks. Internal springs appear to retain functional tension, but the magazines have not been function-tested in a firearm.
