Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1190:
Sold for: $75
Description
The Benjamin Model 312 is a classic pump-action air rifle chambered for .22 caliber pellets, recognized for its robust brass construction and reliable pneumatic power plant. This example features a barrel and receiver assembly with a natural brass finish, paired with a blued steel bolt handle and hammer. The rifle is fitted with a smooth walnut-finished wood buttstock and a matching ribbed pump-action forend designed for a secure grip during charging. Aiming is facilitated by a fixed front post sight and an adjustable rear notch sight mounted to the upper barrel. Key markings include the serial number H 48,336 stamped on the left side of the receiver above the text BENJAMIN FRANKLIN and MADE IN U S A. The right side of the receiver is explicitly marked CAL 22 and contains the operational instruction COCK HAMMER TO RELEASE SAFETY. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The rifle presents in good overall condition, exhibiting wear consistent with moderate field use. The brass barrel and receiver surfaces show widespread finish wear, tarnish, and scattered spots of oxidation throughout. The blued finish on the bolt and hammer assembly has thinned, with visible surface rust present on the bolt handle. The wood stock and pump forend are structurally sound but display various dings, scratches, and minor finish loss from handling. The action appears to function mechanically as the hammer cocks and the pump mechanism moves freely, however, we have not function-tested this air rifle to verify pressure seals or velocity.
