Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1321:
Sold for: $70
Description
This lot consists of a collection of 169 rounds of .223 Remington ammunition, largely comprised of remanufactured cartridges presented in four distinct plastic storage boxes. The inventory is divided as follows: a green plastic box containing 51 rounds of pointed copper-jacketed ammunition; a blue plastic box containing 51 rounds of copper-jacketed hollow-point ammunition; a clear plastic box containing 51 rounds featuring a mix of copper-jacketed hollow-point and exposed lead-tip soft point projectiles; and a red AmmoSafe brand box containing 16 rounds of hollow-point ammunition. The cartridges feature standard brass cases with varied bullet types including Full Metal Jacket (FMJ), Hollow Point (HP), and Soft Point (SP) designs. Verbatim markings include the red box lid which is hand-marked in black ink .223 55GR LEAD FREE and features the embossed brand name AMMOSAFE. While specific manufacturer headstamps are present on the case bases, they represent a variety of commercial brass repurposed for remanufacturing.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in used condition with visible signs of age and varied storage environments. Many brass cases exhibit surface tarnish and oxidation, with significant green verdigris corrosion present on several rounds within the clear storage container. The copper-jacketed projectiles show some darkening and shelf wear. The plastic storage boxes are functional with minor scuffs and surface wear consistent with handling. The ammunition appears to be live; however, we have not function-tested these cartridges and they are sold as-is.
