Lot 1332:
Sold for: $275
Description
This Remington Model 550-1 is a semi-automatic rifle designed to cycle .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges interchangeably using the David Williams floating chamber design. The rifle features a 24-inch round barrel with a blued steel finish and an under-barrel tubular magazine. The receiver is also constructed of blued steel and is fitted with a factory black metal shell deflector on the right side. The furniture consists of a smooth, one-piece walnut stock with a pistol grip and a black checkered plastic buttplate. Sighting equipment includes a fixed front blade and an elevator-adjustable rear leaf sight. Key markings on the barrel include the model designation Remington MODEL 550-I / 22 S., L., & L. R. and the manufacturer information REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC., ILION, N.Y., MADE IN U.S.A. alongside WILLIAMS PATENTS NO. 2,027,892 – 2,090,656 – 2,336,146. A code appearing to be 054 is stamped on the left side of the barrel at the breech. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued steel finish exhibits thinning and scattered areas of minor surface oxidation and light peppering, particularly along the length of the barrel. The wooden stock remains structurally sound but shows numerous light scratches, small dings, and general handling wear consistent with use. The bore condition is unobserved. The action appears to function correctly with the bolt cycling smoothly and the trigger resetting, though the rifle has not been function-tested with live ammunition.
