Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1407:
Sold for: $250
Description
This single-action percussion revolver is a reproduction of the 1851 Navy pattern, specifically the Reb Nord Navy configuration featuring a brass frame. Chambered in .44 caliber, the firearm is equipped with a 7.5-inch octagonal blued barrel and a six-shot blued cylinder. The frame, trigger guard, and backstrap are constructed of polished brass, while the loading lever and hammer exhibit vibrant case-hardened finishes. The revolver is fitted with smooth, one-piece reddish-brown wood grips and a traditional brass bead front sight with a notched hammer rear sight. Key markings include the FAP diamond logo and F.LLI PIETTA-MADE IN ITALY on the right side of the barrel, while the left side is stamped BLACK POWDER ONLY 44 CAL. The right side of the frame displays Italian proof marks and a CI date code indicating manufacture in 2012. The serial number 615436 is clearly stamped on the underside of the frame and the trigger guard assembly. This lot includes the original Cabela’s factory box with a matching handwritten serial number on the end label. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in excellent overall condition, retaining nearly all of its original blued and case-hardened finishes. The brass components show light, attractive tarnish consistent with age but remain bright. The bore is bright with sharp, well-defined rifling. The smooth wood grips are in excellent condition with no significant dings or handling marks. The action appears to function correctly with a crisp trigger and solid cylinder lockup, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The included factory box shows minor shelf wear at the corners but remains structurally sound.
